Introduction
This statement is made pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Complete Property Renovations has taken – and is continuing to take – to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking is not taking place within our business or any of our supply chains.
We are fully committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our business or in any of our supplier relationships.
Our Business and Structure
Complete Property Renovations is a privately owned property refurbishment and renovation company based in Teesside. We deliver domestic and commercial services including bathroom and kitchen refurbishments, bespoke joinery, media walls, full home renovations, and smart home security installations across Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Darlington, Hartlepool, Redcar, Billingham, Ingleby Barwick, and the wider North East region.
Our operations include the use of subcontractors and third-party suppliers, primarily UK-based, for products and services such as materials, equipment, labour, and logistics.
Our Commitment
We recognise that modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking. We are committed to maintaining and improving systems and practices to combat all forms of modern slavery both within our organisation and in our supply chains. This includes:
Upholding workers’ rights
Providing fair wages and safe working conditions
Verifying employment eligibility
Respecting freedom of movement
We are equally committed to supporting transparency and accountability to eradicate modern slavery and expect the same high standards from all our contractors, suppliers, and other business partners.
Our Supply Chain and Due Diligence
We work with a range of reputable suppliers and subcontractors to source materials and services. As part of our commitment to addressing modern slavery, we have:
Implemented a Supplier Code of Conduct which includes provisions for anti-slavery compliance
Undertaken risk-based assessments of our supply chains, especially where products or services may be sourced from higher-risk sectors or countries
Introduced mandatory contractual clauses requiring compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015
Ensured new supplier onboarding includes ethical sourcing checks
Policies and Procedures
To support our commitment and ensure compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we have developed the following internal policies:
Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy – which outlines our zero-tolerance approach and the responsibilities of staff and management
Whistleblowing Policy – enabling employees and stakeholders to report concerns confidentially and without fear of retaliation
Equality and Diversity Policy – reinforcing our commitment to fairness and respect across our operations
Recruitment Policy – ensuring rigorous checks on all new employees, including verification of legal working status and proof of identity
Training and Awareness
We recognise that informed employees are a critical part of the fight against modern slavery. Therefore, we provide training for relevant staff to:
Recognise the signs of modern slavery and human trafficking
Understand how to raise concerns and where to report suspicions
Comprehend the responsibilities under the Modern Slavery Act 2015
We also ensure that employees involved in procurement and recruitment are well-versed in the legal and ethical considerations involved.
Monitoring and Measuring Effectiveness
We use the following key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure how effectively we are combating modern slavery:
Percentage of suppliers signed up to our Code of Conduct
Number of employee reports or concerns raised relating to slavery or unethical practices
Percentage of staff trained on modern slavery awareness
Auditing of suppliers where required based on risk profile
We continue to assess these indicators annually and improve where necessary.
Future Commitments
Over the coming year, we aim to strengthen our efforts by:
Extending modern slavery training to all team members and key partners
Formalising annual supplier audits for higher-risk categories
Increasing awareness across all areas of our supply chain
Publishing this statement on our website and reviewing it annually
Approval and Governance
This statement has been approved by the Senior Operations Manager and will be reviewed annually to reflect changes in legislation and our commitment to continuous improvement.
